War its is over, but the battle? It has just begun…
Not lost just yet, while others elsewhere say the war is won,
Talk of “support the troops” means little to the veteran who lives on the street
Homeless soldiers lie and live underneath uncaring passing feet.
You see, the bullets no more are flying
But these men, they still are dying
Who no peace no where can find
From the wounded at battle mind…
Those who sent them to war as if but pieces of chess
Make laws against the street people, thinking now of them less
But had they died: their names remembered, read out in speeches would be
No votes come from homeless veterans, mind wounded, we can see.
