Ruins of Ballymacool

Those ruins stand, charred by fire
Not set by a rebels hand
Though many of it’s type out to the flame

By tenants ire
Anger pent, venting planned
No, that was not to blame.

Ballymacool House, home of the Boyd Family
Home of poetess Mary Rosalie Boyd and her soldier brother John Dopping Boyd, the house survived the War of Independence and Civil War.

Mammon, and what it inspires:
Is said to be how this home was burned!
Once imposing, always welcoming…
Mansion to rubble was turned.

Have your say...
