Take Not Gods Name in Vain

Taking a common sense look at the Ten Commandments - Take Not The Lords Name in Vain
Taking a common sense look at the Ten Commandments – Take Not The Lords Name in Vain

Take not the Lords name in Vain it is commanded
Some say it means “Do not swear”
It baffled me how God could be offended
If I called his name when I dropped something there
Or hurt myself, or in frustration
Swore, and his name invoked
Sure its rude, but He is no prude
That at such misdemeanor be provoked.

When armies of leaders go to War
For an idea, an empire, over others to build
Do so in the name of God to spread his word
Do so to bring for them a shield
When folk to invoke hate use His name
For others do not follow their way
Which they use their faith as they interpret it
As their leaders declare words God did say

That IS taking Gods name in vain
By all creeds and colours it is committed there
In comparison a swer of common folk in frustration
May annoy god, but in comparison is a prayer!

Have your say...
