Why God Made The World
The multicolours of the sky
And end of day and birth of new
As to the reason of as to why
The world was created, He then knew
It was for its beauty, as seen here
A dawn / dusk sky of purple hue
Against which a tree silhouette does appear
Much fairer sights to see are few.

The Praises of My God I Sing
The praises of my God I sing
Who by my side always stands
For when bruised and battered by the world
I’m caressed and comforted by His hands.
Though by me unfelt and unseen
As indeed is His face
I know that touched I have been
By His love and grace.

Temple to a Newer God
On seeing the Orthodox church in the grounds of the Acropolis, I thought how faiths can be passing fancies, and in a future age even Christianity will be a curiosity and an antiquity.
Where once they worshipped Apollo
Zeus, other Gods and Pan
There now stands the Church to the Son of God
Made flesh, and made man.
This land devout, for its fai [...]
There Came A Man Who Spoke From A Boo...
There came a man who spoke from a book
And spoke of better ways
Of Heaven and Hell and Judgement
Faced by man at the End of Days.
Spoke of our salvation
Bid us his church to come within
Surrender ourselves to the white mans God
And save ourselves from sin.
The man spoke from the book
That to us he did bring
Spoke to say he’d teach us al [...]

Gods Guidance At the Eye of the Storm
Walked where others feared
Only knew after the storm
Which they had weathered.
Guided by the unknown hand
To safety – the hand of God.

Those Who Perfection Seek Shall Be Sm...
Those who total perfection seek shall be smited for their Pride
For to achieve perfection is to say you are better than all others
God made man with qualities of both bad and good inside
No one, though he may think himself to be, is any better than another
Some seek perfection in faith, declare here other beliefs
And decree that damned others [...]

Dogma Must Die
The death of dogma is the birth of morality.
~ Immanuel Kant
Dogma, dogma, dogma… it must die
For it is not faith that makes men fight
But rather the belief, unerring
That they alone are right.
Its not enough to know God
Or to love him and say your prayers
But is how you say them, in the public eye
As you try to avoid disapproving star [...]
As Pilgrims
As pilgrims in life we walk alone
Sins committing for which we later atone
Some we confess, other up to which we dont own
But confess to our God without speaking.
As pilgrims we move in life together
Storms we cause, and storms caused by others we weather
For life is a wind, and man but a feather
That a place of peace on the ground is seeking [...]
Give Glory To The Sabbath Day
Give glory for the Sabbath Day
Set aside for man to pray
And from work for to stay
One day a week
And still enjoy the pay
Each worker does seek
Sabbath conflicts with greed
Fulfills every workers need
To with family stay and feed
Enjoy each other there
And Scripture can retire to read
After the chapel prayer
Men of faith, and of faiths all

Believe Beyond Belief
“Could you double check the envelope?”
- Martin Scorsese, when he won his Oscar for directing the film “The Departed” after being nominated and failing to win five times before.
Too good to be true it may sound
You believe not what you hear
You believe not what you see
For little is as at first it does appear.
But̷ [...]
Muslim Praying at a Chinese Temple in...
One of my freinds on Facebook John Tiong Chunghoo posted the following post that inspired the following poem…
“When I was in Hong Kong last year, the strangest sight was seeing a muslim man praying right outside a Chinese temple. And after his prayers, he walked right back to talk with his friend, a caretaker of the Chinese temple [...]

Where God Is and Has Been
In nature we see where God has been. In our fellow man, we see where He is still at work. ~Robert Brault
The bird and the bee, everything that we see
The brown and dark earth and the grass that is green
All that is nature, is living and good
Is where we see where God has been
The man that helps another though he not his brother
For h [...]
As Time Passes By
As time passes me by I wonder why
The world is always changing
No pattern seems to stay the same…
Forever rearranging…
Is all this change for the good?
The answer we don’t know.
We must navigate this stormy sea of life…
And time will in time show…
Place your trust the the creator
Who created you – gave you [...]
The Lord Came To Me In A Man
The Lord came to me in a man
Who looked not like God at all
He had no money, and was drunk
A waster, him Id call.
And staggering he asked for some change
As he stood in my way,
I sidestepped him without a glace,
I got none, I did say.
I hope that when I die
And ask for room beyond Heavens gate
God on me looks kind and does forgive,
And that h [...]
God Save Us From The Preachers
The preachers came to town
Once a year or so
And from church to church in the parish
To save souls they would go.
They called themselves the mission
We called them other names not to their face
They told us the evils of other faiths
And of our churches sole grace
How only through ours we could have salvation
To frequent others was a sin
And e [...]
Snakes All Around Us
Readers of these pages from Ireland will be familiar with Fr Brian D’Arcy’s “A Little Bit of Religion” column in the Sunday Word, an Irish Sunday newspaper.
In the October 1 2006 edition, Fr Brian quotes a tale told by Native American actor Iron Eyes Cody.
While he tells it to warn of the dangers of drink and drugs, [...]
Once There Dwelt A Scotsman
Once there lived a Scotsman
Whose years nobody knew
Who was seen by all in town
And known by very few.
For men, for loners such as he
Were left that way… alone…
Scorn and pity and indifference
By the townspeople to him was shown.
This Scotsman was nobody
None knew from where he came
Bar the obvious. from Scotland…
Few even k [...]
