Modern Venus

Inspired by the painting by Roz McQuillan

She sits there, a modern Venus
The seashell thrown to the tossing seas
And to the viewer she is enticing
And see seeks to seduce and tease
And this modern Venus is waiting
It seems for a man
Eyes closed, as if she is dreaming
Imagining if she can
She is running through a field of flowers
As when young, without a care
And she had not the worries of the world
That are on her shoulders there
But in the coming moments
She will think of them not
In life’s hot passions she’ll enjoy
Her worries will be forgot.

Have your say...
