Farewell 2012 – Bring on 2013!!!

As we bid farewell to 2012, we look forward with renewed vigor to the coming year of 2013.

We survived yet again an end of the world, and look forward to the announcement of the next one.

On a personal level, Im preparing to move back to my families native Longford, and family research has led to the discovery of a book on Longford history that has great anecdotes which I intend to put in verse in the coming months!

I’ll be donning my walking shoes again, with a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella on the agenda for the coming months.

On the arts scene, a collection of my work is slated for March, a chapbook from the Tullamore Rhymers Club to be done for the end of January, and to wrap up Issue X of Cartys Poetry Journal, and integrate the new submission mechanism in the website.

Looking back on 2012, the highlight had to be the launch of Seamus Kirwans excellent book “Ravings of a Mad Irishman”, which is a great read with a powerful message.

Outings to the Fermoy Poetry Festival, having Kevin Higgins down for the 100,000 Poets for Changeevent, catching the tail end of the Cúirt festival in Galway and attending a couple of events in the Irish Writers Centre kept me busy.

The coming year will see me writing as much about slurry tanks as rhyming poetry, and bring it on is what I say!!!

Have your say...
