A Thousand Souls Faught for the Fatherland

Not a very well known fact is that many veterans of WWI and current soldiers of the Whermacht when demobbed because of their ethnicity, then were gassed, many being patriotic Germans.

A thousand souls faught for the fatherland
For the Reich of a Thousand Years
Promised by a despot
To cheering fools enjoying their beers.
In France and the feilds of Poland
Shoulder to shoulder since the war began
They faught and gains did defend
With their fellow German man.
But the order from the Whermacht
Sealed the heros fate:
Because of blood they were demobbed
So the order did state.
They returned to their families
Far from death they were, it should appear
But these heros of the Thousand Year campaign:
Never so close to death were they near!
And so off to the deathcamps
Though their gates the Fatherlands Heros passed,
And their former comrades
Send them to the Chambers to be gassed.
Be careful of your Fatherland
Dont blind you follow those who over you rule...
Or your heroics for your country
May be shown to be the actions of a fool.
