Walking to Kilmainham

I shall walk to Kilmainham
To see the town and jail
And I shall rue how our nations honour
By our leaders is put up for sale.

Was it worth the fight for Connolly
Who in a chair the firing squad aimed at
Was it worth his death what we have done
Who in his best pyjamas sat?

Truly his nightmare came to be
The freedom of which we brag
Was onlt to relace one elite with another
And change our eblems and flag.
