Dublins bright new Docklands. All that is missing is the familis of the dockers themselves...
The new Docklands area of Dublin. Photo Tomas O Carthaigh (c)2010
No dockers here now load their boats
And curse and laugh, lewd stories tell
Others do... more clipped their accents
And they have more money as well
There are jobs for all here all right
But they are not for dockers sons
No... but for sons of solicitors and doctors
And societies other big guns.
The dockers sons are in tower blocks
On the other side of town
Their jobs... gone... as are their homes...
In ruins now... or torn down...
